Security

Protection of people and property

According to the standards currently in force (EN 12150-1 and 2; EN 14449: 2005), only two types of glass are classified as safety glass.

First of all, laminated glass (Lamipor) which, in case of breakage, does not disintegrate, but mostly keeps its cohesion.

Secondly, tempered glass (Vitrodur) is a heat-treated glass that, when broken, defragments into small particles (no larger than the thickness of the glass) preventing damage or harmful injuries.

It is also possible to combine laminate and tempered (Lamidur), therefore obtaining an element of high hardness, security, and stability.

Property Security

Laminated glass - can be strengthened using Sentryglas

Nowadays, and more and more, glass has assumed a preponderant role when it comes to guards that promote personal safety, without losing transparency and connection between environments. By combining laminated glass with other components – such as SentryGlas films – we achieve safety, stability, and fall protection for people.

Fire-resistant

Fire-resistant glass is an advanced safety solution that combines fire protection, transparency, and design. Designed to limit the spread of flames, smoke, and heat, it helps protect people and property while maintaining the brightness and aesthetic appeal of spaces. It is the ideal solution for projects that require high safety standards without compromising architectural integration.

Flagship Partnership

Vitropor is part of the network of certified partners of SCHOTT, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of fire-resistant glass. This partnership allows us to offer certified, high-performance fire-resistant solutions, ensuring quality, safety, and compliance with the most demanding requirements of modern architecture and construction.

Fire Resistance Ratings

E – Integrity

Prevents the passage of flames and smoke

It maintains its integrity for the certified duration, preventing the spread of fire and hot gases into the protected area.

Examples: E30, E60, E90, E120

EW – Integrity and Radiation Control

Reduces radiant heat transfer

In addition to preventing the passage of flames and smoke, it limits the thermal radiation transmitted to the side not exposed to the fire, providing additional protection.

Examples: EW30, EW60, EW90, EW120

EI – Integrity and Insulation

Maximum protection against fire and heat

It prevents the passage of flames, smoke, and heat, keeping the temperature on the protected side within the limits set by safety standards.

Examples: EI30, EI60, EI90, EI120
