Automotive, Railway and Shipbuilding
Windshield glass is one of our “windows” to the outside world. But more importantly, it is also a defense against outside threats that may cause us injury. All car windows are designed with the safety of the driver and occupants in mind in the event of an accident, especially the windshield glass, which undergoes an additional lamination process.
There are two types of glass in automotive windows: laminated glass and tempered glass. Windshield glass is usually laminated, while other vehicle windows are typically made of tempered glass.
It is important that all vehicle windows are tough (safety glass) and shatterproof, but the additional layer of protection on the windshield is also intended to provide puncture protection against the small projectiles that hit the vehicle every day while it is in motion.
The laminated glass used in the windshield defends us when an object hits it, as only the outer layer is fragmented. When the impact is stronger, the glass breaks, but the glass fragments stick to the PVB, and the possible penetration of the object is attenuated.
The safety glass in the rear and side windows are also resistant (toughened) to extreme conditions, enhancing the feeling of well-being for all occupants.
Hospitality Industry
Glass for refrigeration or similar installations requires high levels of thermal insulation. In addition to having excellent light transmission capacity, it is also characterized by efficiency, since the thermal insulation reduces the need for energy consumption to maintain low temperatures inside the installation.
The low emissivity of the glass that is used guarantees that there are no significant energy exchanges, to the point of interfering with the thermal independence of the environments. They reduce color fading and the likelihood of condensation.
This solution is incorporated in various equipment, such as horizontal and vertical chests, minibars, vending machines, showcases that we can find in the hotel and hospitality industry, supermarkets, bakeries, patisseries, ice cream shops, and even in our homes.
Static and dynamic Mupis, bus stops, advertising displays, kiosks
Currently, the urban furniture industry is going through a unique moment, both in Portugal and worldwide. The capacity that Out Of Home / Outdoor Advertising has to captivate and maintain audiences has made this medium distinguish itself more and more. If we add to this the growing capacity that glass presents in the digitalization of the sector, the technological and creative potential that glass adds is remarkable.
In the particular case of mupis, glass offers greater transparency and less light reflection, which brings better image quality in communication, in addition to greater durability when exposed to high solar incidence. When glass is used at bus stops, for example, it provides greater safety for its users, as well as greater thermal comfort.
With the use of glass in urban furniture, and in an “out of shape” future, there are no limits to creativity.
At Vitropor, we approach glass with curiosity, research, and learning, strengthening innovation and continuous improvement.
